I love people that I can talk about anime with irl, although they are free and far between. Most are males, but I've had some female friends into anime too over the years.

But yeah this site... Sometimes the comments section makes me smh.

Glad to see the animation is much better this episode. It still relies heavily on manga pages, and still shots, but at least it's homogeneous, and coherent with some retro 90s anime flair.

Also: props to the seiyuus. These guys are really filling up the emotional gap that the animation's stillness isn't delivering. Sanzo's gang are delinquents, but they've got their values in the right place ; and thank goodness, you can hear it in the voices .

Idk if it's me being old but as a kid i remember this show having more grit, there was plenty of light hearted moments but death had meaning. The scene with the girl at the beginning, back then they would have made us care for her and her dad before offing him.

I remember off the depiction of loneliness, isolation, racism. Gojo chasing his mother's love, Akai wanting the redeem his past, Sanso trying to be like his master and Goku getting emotionally attached to strangers and hurting when they die.

I tried watching the original and it was too junior and the copies were not good. I saw the 2017 one and it filled in enough to understand the current series, and was pretty decent.

Well I didn't know anime when I was 8yo not much were aired in switzerland and I didn't know that what were aired were anime, but def one of my first anime. I was so happy seeing it was aired again, a little disapointed it's a remake but the manga (or translation? not sure) is so slow so not suprised, (They should remake it all, not only this arc tho)

They have a dragon that turns into a jeep of course they got can food, Gojyos favorite cigarettes arw Hi-lites and Sanzos are Marboros, they use a credit card the temple gave them to pretty much buy everything.
Its Modern century the show started in the 90s and they are mostly traveling from China to India in areas that have village towns.
